The western part of the Mekong River is covered with alluvium all year round. The lush soil is the source of nourishment for the miraculous growth of durian trees. Looking for the origin of Cai Mon durian, Ben Tre people told each other that Confucian monk Nguyen Duy Luu, commonly known as Master Luu, was the first person to bring durian varieties to his homeland.
